Tata Trust are the oldest Indian foundations
and today, continue to pursue the goal of
being professionally managed philanthropic
organisations. Through their grant making,
the Trusts support efforts for the development
of society, in areas of Rural Livelihoods
and Communities (RLC), Education, Health,
Civil Society and Governance, and Arts,
Crafts and Culture.
As part of the Elementary Education portfolio,
the Trusts desire to work on teacher education,
with a focus on Karnataka. The Trusts' work
in Karnataka under the 'Kalike Samruddhi
Upakram' (Learning Enhancement Initiative)
focuses on enhancing quality of teaching
learning in select schools in Yadgir and
Chamrajanagar districts.
Development Officer - Elementary Education
(Teacher Education)
(SRTT/DO/ElEd/2011/2)
S/he will assist senior programme staff
in developing and supporting the Trusts'
elementary education portfolio, focusing
on teacher education as a specialisation
and independently handling the Teacher Development
Initiative in due course. The job will entail
working, both independently and as part
of the team, to enhance the Trusts' engagement
with teacher education in Karnataka through
working closely with field partners, government
institutions and teacher education colleges.
Candidates should:

Possess a master's degree in education
/ child development / human development
/ suitable discipline |
|
|
Have a minimum of five years experience
in designing and implementing interventions
for enhancing quality of elementary
education with a focus on teacher development |
|
|
Have the zeal to excel,
the ability to innovate future strategies
and deliver, in a challenging environment
with deadline oriented outputs |
|
|
Be willing to undertake extensive
travel. Candidates with a demonstrated
engagement with working with multiple
stakeholders on teacher professional
development / teacher education would
have an added advantage. |
The job requires skills in communication,
writing and management, besides interpersonal
skills and the ability to interact with
a wide range of people, including fellow
professionals. Ideally, s/he should be growth
oriented and hardworking, have a mature
outlook, with a visible interest in, and
commitment to, elementary education. Language
proficiency in English and Kannada is a
must. Skills in word processing, spreadsheet
and database management are also essential.
This is a full-time position based in Bangalore,
involving frequent travelling. The remuneration
shall be commensurate with the applicants'
ability and experience. Individuals who
would be able to work on a part-time basis
can also apply, while clearly specifying
the nature of availability in the covering
letter.
