Tata Trust are the oldest Indian foundations
and today, continue to pursue the goal of
being professionally managed philanthropic
organisations. Through their grant making,
the Trusts support efforts for the development
of society, in areas of Rural Livelihoods
and Communities (RLC), Education, Health,
Civil Society and Governance, and Arts,
Crafts and Culture. Under the sub theme
of 'Reforming Elementary Education', the
Trusts have been making interventions at
district levels to enhance the quality of
education. As part of this initiative, the
Trusts are looking for a suitable professional
to specifically focus on systemic reform
within Nandurbar district in Maharashtra.
This would entail supporting initiatives
that focus on improving the extent of participation
and the quality of education in schools
by partnering with the government and the
community, apart from providing academic
support to individual schools.
Team Leader (Elementary Education - Nandurbar
district, Maharashtra)
(TL/ElEd/Nandurbar/2012/1)
S/he will lead a team in Nandurbar district,
Maharashtra, within the elementary education
portfolio. The job will entail working,
both independently and as a part of the
team, with various stakeholders and partner
organisations for enhancing quality of education.
The role would entail providing leadership
for the district-level work, liaison with
key stakeholders and ensure quality output
in the field. Candidates should:

Possess a master's degree in education
/ rural management / tribal development
/ social work / any other relevant subject |
|
|
Have a minimum of five to seven years
experience in designing and implementing
interventions for enhancing quality
of elementary education and / or community
mobilisation |
|
|
Be able to lead a fairly
large team comprising professionals
drawn from diverse backgrounds and disciplines |
|
|
Have the zeal to excel, the ability
to innovate future strategies and deliver,
in a challenging environment with deadline
oriented outputs |
|
|
Be willing to undertake extensive
travel to remote locations. |
Candidates with a demonstrated engagement
with rural development and education at
the district and sub-district level institutions
and experience of designing / handling large-scale
interventions in collaboration with the
government would have an added advantage.
The right candidate should be able to demonstrate
keen understanding of the system of elementary
education, community mobilisation, field-based
innovations, especially to improve the government
schools and key challenges in ensuring access,
equity and quality in elementary education
including Early Childhood Education.
The job requires demonstrated written and
spoken communication skills and the ability
to work with a wide range of people including
government officials and sectoral experts.
Ideally, s/he should be growth oriented
and hardworking, have a mature outlook,
with a visible interest in, and commitment
to, the field of education. The candidate
should be proficient in Marathi and English.
The candidate would be initially oriented
at the Trusts' headquarters in Mumbai, post
which s/he would be based within Nandurbar
district. The position shall involve frequent
travelling within the said field area. The
remuneration shall be commensurate with
the applicants' ability and experience.
This is a full-time position.
Candidates who are not proficient in Marathi
and are not willing to operate from Nandurbar
