Activities within
the grant and expected impact:
The main objectives of the grant
come under four categories:
|
|
Childrens
workshops, which are conducted during
summer camps, over a duration of three
weeks each. Fifty children, in age group
7-14, participate in each workshop,
where they are exposed to local folk
performing art, dance, visual art and
puppetry. |
|
|
Teacher Training
Programmes (TTP), consisting of intensive
3½-month three-part programmes.
These cover 40 primary and pre-primary
school teachers, besides focusing on
production and testing of theatrical
teaching aids, benchmarked for their
capacity to be assimilated into the
mainstream D.Ed programme. This component
affects practice teaching in D.Ed colleges
in the region. |
|
|
Short-duration
workshops, on subjects of puppetry,
storytelling and teaching language through
theatre. These create exposure to various
aspects of theatre, targeting approximately
60 college students, 20 school students,
20 urban schoolteachers, and 15 rural
schoolteachers annually, resulting in
disseminative impact targeting ten schools
and colleges in the region. |
|
|
Workshops with
semi-professional theatre artistes,
including production workshops with
10 rural theatre artists, 1 tour and
the performance of 25 shows over a year.
This ensures base-widening impact, besides
forming the basis of a future self-sustainability
strategy. |
The Trusts support enables Puppet
House to strengthen its network among the
theatre fraternity, and to lay strong foundations
in the educational institutions in the Hubli
- Dharwad belt.
