The Trusts are one of the leading funding
organisations of Arts, Crafts and Culture
in India. In 2010, the Trusts have commissioned
an independent Strategy Review of the programme
to develop an intervention strategy in the
sector for the next five year period, 2011-16.
The expert Strategy Review Team recommended
that the Arts, Crafts and Culture programme
of the Trusts should be guided by the following
purpose:
To enhance livelihoods and quality of life
of artists, artisans and craftsmen through
support for design innovation, creation
of new practices, training and networking
that can lead to new products and new audiences
and markets.
Following the Strategy Review, the Trusts
have renewed their commitment to achieve
a deeper impact in the overall domain of
Arts, Crafts and Culture by supporting:
- Initiatives to secure the livelihoods
of crafts communities
- Sustainable livelihoods in performing
arts
- Preservation and conservation of culture
- Community media to aid development.
With these guiding principles, the Trusts
concentrate their support under the following
sub-themes:
 |
| Geographical
spread of projects |
The Arts, Crafts and Culture programme
will further stress on identifying and supporting
initiatives that look at arts, crafts and
culture in a holistic and comprehensive
manner. These would locate the livelihoods
in the sector in a generative matrix that
expands from the individual creative artist,
to the family and community, to the professional
networks and farther to markets. Synergies
will be created between the crafts and the
performing arts within the same communities
and networks. Trusts would welcome initiatives
that should allow for a holistic approach
to livelihoods within the arts and crafts
traditions and practices of rural communities.
