Roopantaran - Institution Building Initiative

Non-profit organisations have now been widely recognised as having the capacity to organise communities, and play a key role in social development processes. While this has mainstreamed the sector, organisations increasingly find themselves in project mode with reducing time and space for building institutions.

This includes resources — financial and human — for reflective learning, sensitivity to processes, and repositioning of programmes based on changing socio-economic contexts. The Trust's initiative in this area supports practice and knowledge building on institution building in non-profit organisations.

It does this through:
Support to select strategic partners of the Trust in improving their organisation's effectiveness
Building a knowledge base on organisation development in non-profit organisations
Creating a larger pool of professionals from various disciplines / fields of development action, through seeding of a training programme in organisation change facilitation

Key grants:
Enabling scaling up through development of human resources
Initiating organisational change process
Piloting a programme for organisation change facilitators
Building institutional excellence for social development in India
Building organisational capacity through sustained human resource and organisational development processes
Systematisation and visioning of PEDO
Institutional strengthening of Harsha Trust
