Activities within the grant and expected impact:
The present project builds on the work done under the preparatory phase, and would support:
Consolidating existing youth groups while promoting 75 new groups across 100 villages - 50 existing and 50 new - to inculcate human rights values through the creation of 75 vibrant platforms for social action
Enhancing focus on youth leadership development, including formulation of the detailed curriculum for the same
Continuation of the school programme with enhanced focus on teachers to challenge gender stereotypes and enable young girls to access education
Strengthening the knowledge centres with a community radio programme, as well as initiating some livelihood focused programmes

Key components of the project include:
Youth mobilisation and anchoring social development activities
Youth leadership development
Youth leadership action with two major initiatives challenging gender stereotypes in education system and strengthening the youth knowledge centres

The project is expected to lead to:
Strong 40-45 samoohs in existing villages and 30 new samoohs
Establishment of 15 libraries which would be run by youth
40 trained youth leaders
Establishment of two information centres covering 60 villages with five trained youth independently running the centres

Development of a comprehensive framework will be an immediate priority and will be completed within the first year of the project. This will capture the qualitative and quantitative impact at the following levels:
Self - in terms of skills, development perspective, citizenship action, enhanced ability to negotiate with family
Leadership positions taken by youth in public spaces
Social action in terms of gender sensitivity in educational systems and knowledge centres
