Post the aftermath of the Gujarat riots of 2002, Janvikas initiated a youth development programme called ‘Yuv Shakti’ in the three most affected talukas of Panchmahal dist
rict, Gujarat. The programme emphasises the importance of peace promotion and conflict transformation and addresses challenges of caste politics.

Through the ongoing grant, the organisation is spreading the Yuv Shakti programmes directly and in partnership with other civil society organisations in nine districts covering 32 towns and 735 villages. The components being implemented by Janvikas directly are:
Consolidation of existing programmes with 125 youth groups covering over 1,500 youth in three talukas of Panchmahal district leading to strengthening of youth groups and undertaking village and town level campaigns towards issues of relevance; and

Reaching out to over 1,400 youth through the formation of 120 youth groups in Bharuch and Vadodara districts. Additionally, Janvikas is building the capacities of five Non-Profit Organisations to carry out youth development in seven districts.
