Activities within
the grant and expected impact:
The project focuses on underserved areas
in Mumbai, to:
|
|
Support personal transformation of 1,000
youth or 30 groups of youth each year
from marginalised sections of society
through the fellowship |
|
|
Launch 30 community development action
projects with 15 sustained action interventions |
|
|
Provide
information communication technology
(ICT) support to the fellowship programme |
|
|
Facilitate
expansion in at least three smaller
urban centres in Maharashtra, reaching
out to 18 groups through six collaborating
institutions |
Youth and local development would be through
30 research fellowships each year. Each
research project will develop its own outline
of impact. However, the impact will be evaluated
on:
|
|
Youth development: social and economic
profile of the youth, enhancement of
their communication skills, team work,
management capacities, confidence and
development perspective. This would
be assessed at the time of entry into
the programme and at the time of closure.
PUKAR would also develop a database
of youth on their lives and livelihoods
even after their completing the programme. |
|
|
Local development: While each research
project is expected to articulate its
community level impact, about 60 per
cent are expected to be strongly rooted
community research in marginalised communities
/ areas in the city. The impact of these
will be measured on the understanding
of 2,500 citizens in community on local
development issues and of possible interventions
for resolving the problems. Thirty groups
would launch specific social action
projects based on the research undertaken.
Creative methods, with emphasis on quantitative
tools, for assessing these changes will
be developed by the research groups. |
