Activities within the grant and expected impact:
The grant is towards enhancing the quality of teaching-learning of language and mathematics in select Zilla Parishad (ZP) schools in Nandurbar, and Ashramshalas in Dhadgao block of Nandurbar.

The Trust is reaching out to 24 ZP schools and 14 Ashramshalas, covering 50-60 teachers, 2,320 students, and block and cluster level personnel.

This one-year preparatory phase is investing in capacity building of local organisations. It will also track outcomes and impact that would feed into establishing a model, which can be gradually expanded.

HBCSE is serving as the resource agency for providing training, resources, and capacity building inputs to improve the quality of mathematics education in 24 ZP schools in Nandurbar, and 14 Ashramshalas in Dhadgao block of Nandurbar. It is reaching out 2,320 students of Class I and II, and to 28 Ashramshala teachers and 35 ZP teachers.

QUEST is providing focused inputs for improving language instruction in 14 ashramshalas in Dhadgao block of Nandurbar, reaching out to 28 Ashramshala teachers and 1,320 students of Class I and II. HSS is the local implementing organisation in two clusters in Nandurbar, covering 24 ZP schools, 30 teachers, and 1,000 students from Class I and II.

Finally, The Adult and Continuing Education Department, and Continuing Services of NMU is the local implementing organisation for proposed work in 14 Ashramshalas in Dhadgao, covering 20 teachers and 1,320 students from Class I and II. The department also covers 800 students from Class VII and VIII, and at least 100 teachers from non-intervention schools.

The project is expected to lead to:
Improvement in teaching and learning of language and mathematics in 38 schools, 60 teachers and about 2,320 students
At least 30 per cent improvement against the baseline scores in the case of students
At least 60 per cent teachers showing visible improvement in teaching methodology, content knowledge and perspective, against the baseline
The setting up of resource centres in two blocks
