Activities within
the grant:
The grant assists Eklavya up-scale and strengthen
its Publications programme. It has two thrust
areas, namely, Publications, and Library.
The Publications programme has three components:

Development of
up to 75 new titles over the grant period,
ranging from childrens literature,
activity books, teachers handbooks,
educational classics, poetry, subject-wise
modules and reference books |

|
Dissemination
and marketing of the titles through
mail orders, national, regional and
school-based fairs, bookshops and agents
and setting up of Pitara Kendras, which
are specialised outlet cum activity
centres |

Development of
new initiatives, which would, amongst
other things, develop multi-media packages
of educational material for children
and teachers, and set up a functional
website. |
As part of the library
programme, Eklavya is developing a Childrens
Literature Resource Centre. The centre
would collect a wide range of childrens
publications, especially in Hindi, review
childrens literature and books on
education, and develop comprehensive, graded
catalogues of books, besides a manual for
starting and running libraries.
