Activities within the grant:
The second phase of support to the publication programme of Eklavya is to help improve the quality, increase outreach and deepen its impact.
The key components are:
Developing a range of new titles
Improving quality of design, layout and production
Increasing outreach through multiple marketing strategies
Improving production and outreach of non-title publications (magazines, kits, CDs, etc)
Capacity building for developing professional teams

Recent publications under Eklavya:

The grant would lead to:
Increasing access to a range of quality children’s literature and educational publications, especially in Hindi, which would help build reading culture, critical thinking and creativity among children, providing useful resources to student teachers and practicing teachers to build their understanding on education and providing teaching-learning material for classrooms
Improving quality of printing and design of the publications that is contributing to increased visibility, sales and widening of outreach
Increasing the total units sold from under half a million to 1.5 million till the third year, thereby reaching a potential readership of 5 million
Meeting 50 per cent of marketing costs through sales by the third year, leading to partial sustainability of the Eklavya publishing programme
Knowledge building through research studies and a course on children’s literature
