Activities within the grant:
The broad objectives of the project are to:

	Conceptualise, design and conduct short courses on material creation and gender and education
	Create educational material on the above themes for diverse learners
	Build capacities of grassroots organisations to undertake material creation with communities
	Strengthen Nirantar’s capacities to function as a resource centre

The project consists of three broad components:

	Short-term courses and developing learning material: Nirantar is developing:
		Two short-term courses on gender and education
		One short-term course on participatory material production
		Teaching learning material in these areas
	Creation of educational resource material: Nirantar is developing educational resource material in the form of a bi-monthly newsletter called ‘Pitara’, which would address the information and recreational needs of rural readers. The organisation also develops material on sexuality education for teachers and community based facilitators.
	Organisational development and resource group functions, which enable Nirantar to strengthen its internal capacity building and organisational development (OD), enhance resources and outreach of the resource and documentation centre, and continue providing resource support inputs to organisations on gender and education.
