Activities within the grant and expected impact:
This project is towards developing the Vidya Shilpa project of KEN to deepen its interventions while broadening its scope.

Key components of the project entail the following:
Capacity building:
Capacity building of D. Ed. students
Capacity building of teacher educators
Outreach and advocacy

Successful completion of the project would result in:
Building capacity, knowledge and perspective of 45 student teachers, which would result in significant movement from baseline-end line assessment on the lines achieved in the first phase and development of guidelines on subject enrichment for teacher educators
Reaching out to 300 lecturers from over 100 colleges through short workshops towards building their skills resource creation for teaching / learning of languages, effective use of multimedia and efficient use of pedagogy and knowledge on language teaching, learning, psychology of adult learners and elementary education
'Makaranda' wall magazine being published each month, which would build material for use by teacher educators
Exhibitions in 20-25 places in Karnataka that would expose student teachers to diverse teaching-learning material
Partnership with three D.Ed. colleges through principal workshops, facilitation of college and school linkages and intensive inputs to students, resulting in development of guidelines for D.Ed. colleges
Setting up 10 resource centres in D.Ed. colleges, resulting in continued use of relevant teaching learning resources during pre-service teaching
Advocacy for reforming pre-service teacher education with multiple stakeholders, based on an informed database and documentation generated from the project and shared through two meetings / one symposium.
