Activities within the grant:
Suvidya works in the area of elementary education, promoting experience based, child-centred teaching with special expertise in math education. It is setting up a Teacher Resource / Learning Centre in south Bangalore that works with approximately 50 teachers from ten schools in the vicinity. The schools are a mix of government, corporation and private schools, catering to children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Initial focus would be on mathematics teachers from class I to VIII, gradually covering teachers of other subjects. Some of the key activities would involve:
Needs analysis through a participatory process of dialogue with teachers and school administration
A series of teacher training workshops in areas identified through needs analysis
Development of teaching-learning material
