Activities within the grant and expected impact:
The key objectives of the three-year project are to:
Provide professional development opportunities for high school teachers in terms of subject master and pedagogic skills, thereby enhancing the academic achievement of children
Introduce computer based teaching approaches for teachers and children
Create a teacher support mechanism through establishment of a resource centre and resource persons.

The project would enable VMFT to reach out to 70 schools and 280 teachers and through them, reach out to 14,000 children. Key activities include:
Creation of a high quality Teacher Resource Centre for continuous teacher support and development
Encouraging schools to create their own resource centres
Conducting professional development courses to enrich the subject knowledge and pedagogic skills of teachers
Forging school-based partnerships through engaging with interested schools, and in consultation with principals and teachers, designing need-based training programmes for teachers
Engaging with interested teachers and post-graduate students in action research through short fellowship

This is expected to result into measurable change in the professional preparedness of at least 50 per cent teachers, and enhanced student learning of 40 per cent students at the end of three years. Besides, at least 9 out of 18 schools will have functional resource centres, which will be beneficial to teachers and students.
