Activities within the grant and expected impact:
The grant provides part financial support to the corrective surgeries performed by Jehangir Hospital, Pune, on children with congenital cardiac ailments identified under the Government of Maharashtra’s ‘School Health Check-up Programme’ under the National Rural Health Mission.

Jehangir Hospital is recognised by the state government in this scheme for the districts of Pune, Nandurbar, Dhule and Nashik in the state. Children in classes 1st to 10th from any school including Ashramshala schools, students enrolled by the Social Welfare Department in special schools and handicapped schools and belonging to below poverty line (BPL) will be screened and referred to this hospital by the district health administration.

It is estimated that approximately 101 children with cardiac ailments are to receive treatment for cardiac ailments.
