Project name
Livelihood enhancement of tribal communities in the Dangs through natural resource management and development under CInI
Grant operationalised
April 2010
Duration
2 years
Grant amount sanctioned
Rs3.74 million

The project is towards enhancing the livelihoods of 600 tribal families in seven select villages of the Dangs district, by increasing agricultural yield and productivity through management of natural resources. The tribal belt of southern Gujarat is hilly and has limited agriculture infrastructure. Development of water resources, combined with agricultural development, will increase the income of farmers and employment opportunities in the villages, thereby reducing distressed migration of communities. The project would enable each household to generate an income of about Rs. 12,000 / annum as against the baseline of about Rs. 8,000 / annum. At the inception, a detailed baseline of the project villages would be carried out to assess current income from various sources.
