Activities within the grant and expected impact:
The project focuses on integrated village development and improving quality of life of 1,837 families (12,182 individuals) in 11 drought prone villages of Luni block, Jodhpur district, Rajasthan.

The key components include:
Water resource development
Agriculture development and allied activities
Livestock and dairy development
Training and capacity building
Research and development

The following strategies would be adopted:
A village would be considered as a unit for development, thus helping reach the weaker section of society
Community Based Organisations (CBO) would be linked with Gram Panchayats. Village Development Committee (VDC) would be responsible for implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the project activities. Women groups (mahila mandals) and other user groups would work in coordination with the VDC for realisation of planned activities in the project villages
Natural Resource Management (NRM) activities would be implemented based on a participatory approach
Extension of improved agriculture and livestock techniques would be promoted through extension service mechanism
Availability of safe drinking water would be ensured to reduce drudgery of women

This is expected to lead to:
Drinking water availability increasing from 5lpcd (litres per capita per day) to 10lpcd
Annual income of households rising from current level of Rs20,000 to about Rs30,000 through various livelihood interventions
336 hectares agriculture land being brought under irrigation
Availability of relevant technical information and timely inputs on NRM to the community
