One of the biggest challenges facing development
practitioners and policy-makers in the world
today, is how they can assist large numbers
of people in the developing world to have
a meaningful livelihood which sustains them,
and ensures they can live with dignity and
hope for the future.
Livelihood interventions may take:
|
|
A spatial approach,
such as addressing problems in a degraded
watershed |
|
|
A segmental approach,
such as addressing problems of the landless
or the disabled |
|
|
A sectoral approach,
involving addressing problems of dairy
farmers or cotton growers |
|
|
A holistic approach,
involving a range of crosscutting interventions
is more complex, but may be essential
to address the problems of the poorest
of people living in remote areas |
